In Naga

February 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6
Photos are from my archives.
I am currently in Naga a 15-hour bus ride from Baguio.
...
the cat don't like me much
taken during one of our school outreach after the typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng
we visited benguet's small scale miners who were at that time searching for a missing person under rubbles of stones and mud
it was a 24/7 search...so we brought them food
...
a book at Mt. Cloud Bookshop
the Bookshop is located at the oldest establishment/building in Baguio -- The Hillstation
they say that a ghost resides in this tiny, cozy bookshop and recommends the book you need to read...either by letting it fall right smack in front of you from the shelves, or any ghost related circumstances imagined or not that you might encounter at the bookshop. And I got this one! =)
...
one of the tents during the previous Panagbenga (Flower) Festival. I like tiffany lamps.

searching for gold...yes...gold
...
it's the season for strawberries...and what better way to celebrate than to bake a strawberry cake with fresh strawberries you can buy almost in every street in the City.

an out of-photo-topic,
I miss writing. When a friend invited me to join Facebook...it took me a while to sign up...because at that time Blogger and blogging was my one and only =). I signed up...after a week...my Blogger was still my one and only...and I thought it would stay that way forever. =) Years passed...and today...I miss writing paragraphs and paragraphs of non-stop musings of just about anything...the "What's on your mind?" box, I think, just isn't enough anymore...and now that I'm back on Blogger blogging...I can't seem to write anything...although I know I have/need to write something...and it seems I'm running out of words...or thoughts...or I'm better off writing one line sentences on that white box they call your status. Heck!

the stairs at my favorite building along Session Road,
La Azotea
this leads to Kidlat Tahimik's art-gallery/extended-home
it's a whimsical place with a vegetarian restaurant named --
Oh My Gulay! (Gulay=Vegetable) --> it is also a Filipino expression similar to Oh My!!...we just added the gulay to rhyme with the MY...=))

Cold?

...eat more gelato!
Late December to early February are the coldest months in Baguio
dropping to 8 degrees celsius
this is already COOOOOLD! in Philippine(s) standards
...
I had the white chocolate wasabi!
strolled along Session Road...hands numbed from the coldness of the cup...
albeit still enjoying each spoonful of the cold gelato gently numbing the coldness of Baguio...=)

Daniel Burnham

a bust of Daniel Burnham at...yes...Burnham Park, Baguio
an american architect and urban planner who was one of the proponents of the City Beautiful Movement and who contributed to the city planning of Chicago and other cities in the U.S., he created a plan for Baguio City when the Americans made the City their get-away from the scorching heat of Manila.
...
"(He) was not a creative architect, but he was a great man." - Frank Lloyd Wright
hmmm??...maybe because Burnham was more of a planner than an architect (?)

since I'm currently nursing a cold and would not be walking around Baguio today which has been giving us less than 10 degrees celsius temperature for the past days...
I'm posting a photo I took months ago...
this was during Baguio City's Panagbenga or flower festival...

Atrium

one of the many atrium-style old buildings in Baguio
this one, along Mabini Road, houses local shops - a bakery, a shoe shop, a salon, a video shop, and several offices
I was looking for the bookstore selling second hand books, but they've closed shop already...boohoo.
I've never noticed the structure of the building before today. Posting a photo about Baguio City daily, I think, makes me see and admire seemingly ordinary-everyday things and making these things an extraordinary find =)

Sunset Tree

I always have that longing to look at a sunset
and Baguio is I think one of the best places to view amazing and magical sunsets
The sunsets in Baguio is best viewed from Mirador Hill overlooking the South China Sea and the Lingayen Gulf.
If you're on a retreat at the Jesuit Villa or if you happen to be visiting BenCab's Museum late in the afternoon, this is something to look forward to at the end of the day.

Resolution

...to never find myself asking...
...why didn't I?...
to live curious (natgeo-like) and not to live WONDERING -- IF ONLY, the two saddest words in the world
to be aware that I was born to die FOR A REASON
it's the only way to live
